99 2.2 S-10 2WD Brakes, front end

Hello, 3 problems?

#1. When I am braking in reverse while turning, it feels like my ABS kick in. Only when I'm braking while turning in reverse. Should I worry about this? The brakes will stop on a dime, but being relatively new to this truck they have never really felt right.

#2. My gas guage doesn't work, do I have to replace the fuel pump to fix this?

#3. When I come to a stop or accellerate from a stop, I hear a faint, but definite pop that I can feel in the floorboard. It has done this only for the past 300 or so miles out of the 10,000 or so that I've put on it. I jacked up the driver-side front wheel where I suspect the pop is coming from and the wheel has some play from side to side and it transfers all the way to the idler arm on the right side of the vehicle that moves vertically. The front end has all of the gaskets blown either from dry-rotting or over-filling, but I've kept them well greased. 160,000 miles. Any suggestions? The haynes manual only gives inspection instructions for the ball joints.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: 99 2.2 S-10 2WD Brakes, front end

it sounds like question 1 & 3 are related if there is play in idler arm more than
1/2'' i would replace it.i rarely see idler arms making a pop noise usually a
tie rod or ball joint.(some thing shifting side to side not up & down) replace idler arm if worn & recheck front end
question 2 no fuel pump replacement wont fix gas guage
