Re: "NASCAR sucking all the air out of the room"

sounds to me like the author is a little anti-nascar. yes many drivers are coming to nascar. with the exception of F1, its where the money is. the indy car series need to merge and their situation will improve dramatically. nascars not sucking the air out of anything.

Re: "NASCAR sucking all the air out of the room"

As a 26 year fan of Nascar and undoubtedly in the writers eyes as one of the neandertholic 10% of the fanbase, all I have to say is, in victory lane for open wheel, they spray champaign right? Well somebody mixed up his bottle and he needs some cheese to go with his whine.

Oh wait a second how can Nascar be so big and appealing without a HUGE name co-owner like Gene Simmons?

Re: "NASCAR sucking all the air out of the room"

pretty much it seems to me like the guy is just trying to make excuses as to why F1 drivers have short lived NASCAR careers(for the most part)... Not to say drivers with a Formula One background can't compete in NASCAR(though really only Robby Gordon comes to mind, but then again from the Baja 1000 to Indy, Robby gordon can do it)... But then when you look at people like Christian Fittipaldi and company, for the most part the so called "superior drivers" come to NASCAR then realizes that there is A LOT more to it than going turning left... I mean even drivers like Boris Said and company go to the road courses and try their luck, and yeah they do well, but how many races has Boris Said or Ron Fellows actually won? sure they qualify well, but then again they set their car up for that ONE fast lap while everyone else set theirs up for the long haul, so Boris gets his poll but by lap 10 is in 20th place...

As far as NASCAR fans not accepting foreign ideas, so? I don't exactly see Americans being accepted in JGTC ...

How many races have NASCAR drivers won in sports car racing series?

It would help brand equity to race the Dodge Viper SRT10 rather than the Charger in NASCAR, imo.

I don't understand why Riley Technologies has left Indianapolis to strengthen its ties with NASCAR and their "Car of Tomorrow" which has the same templates for Chevy, Ford, Dodge, and Toyota? Will the engine be the only thing that isn't spec in the "Car of Tomorrow?"

"With the IRL and Champ Car becoming more spec series, none of the teams really need our services," he [Bill Riley] said.

Champ Car is sueing the former Montreal promoter, but guess who might race their next year.

Contrary to popular belief, lawsuits among businesses do not end relationships. They merely solve problems. Between people, there are hard feelings when somebody files a lawsuit. Between businesses, it usually just means that neither one wants to pay for something and they want the judge to decide who has to foot the bill.

And also, Boris had a chance to win that race when he won the Bud Pole. I was chugging a Sobe NoFear Energy Drink and standing in my living room cheering for him. As I recall, he finished top-five.

Re: "NASCAR sucking all the air out of the room"

There isn't an ounce of relevance in NASCAR unlike the American Le Mans Series
