horrible idling problem

Well the cars check engine light came on, it got to a point where i would start it, then it would try to idle and stall out.

on the road it would do the same thing in between gears or in neutral so I took it to a mechanic whom told me i had a bad ecu

300 dollars later the problem persisted!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so he told me i needed a new idle motor...

I havent purchased one yet, however I turned up the screw that controls the throttle and it idles correctly again! However when I turn the AC on the car nearly dies but stays started, it also takes away from the acceleration onthe road significantly...

So do I need a new idle motor...

!? and please excuse my spelling guysahhaha

Re: horrible idling problem

ecu? what? hes on crack! why did you listen to him?i have the same problem, vacuum leak is the #1 cause of this problem especially for talons, eclipses, and lasers.
to check this problem, take brake cleaner, carb cleaner works the best, rust penetrant but be very careful with this stuff it can catch on fire and screw the engine over very badly and fastly.spray every vacuum hose you can find all over it.when the rpms jump up,that means youre close, keep goin till it revs higher.when you find the hole, you can either replace it or take some jb weld, duct tape,or something to fill it with.
hope the info helps.
