1.7:1 3.0L Full Roller Rockers

I see these rockers for sale on www.stuffforyourranger.com for the 3.0 liter.
Has anyone had any experience with them or are they just hype

Re: 1.7:1 3.0L Full Roller Rockers

they are the easiest to install for roller rockers. if you mod your intake and exhaust to be more opened after words up you will see a big difference in power.

Re: 1.7:1 3.0L Full Roller Rockers

I have a CAI and Cat back dual exhaust as well as an underdrive pulley. I'm just wondering if it is worth it to put in the rockers.

Did you do it?

Thanks

Re: 1.7:1 3.0L Full Roller Rockers

not yet, but because i am still debating whether to keep the engine in my ranger or put in the necessary work to make it right before i put in my roller rockers. i have the same exact set sitting waiting to be installed and i may just put them in a different 3.0 and drop that in.

if you have all of that already. go ahead and get them install them in 4hrs but your truck will be down a day for the locktite to dry. if you have a 95 or newer a sct tuner will maximise your gains by programing the cpu for maximum gains. and a 60mm from an escape throttle boddy. is what most 3.0 that have that many mods have installed.
a cold air intake doesnt help much because the bottleneck is for air in coming is not at the filter but at the throttlebody and the intake. but after you opened the air intake up the cai helps out alot.

Re: 1.7:1 3.0L Full Roller Rockers

I do not have them yet because I was doing a little more research before I buy them to make sure they really work.

Thanks for the advice you've been very helpful

I have 99 ranger so I think I will go find me a bigger throttle body.

Also....will I have to use a higher octane gas?

Re: 1.7:1 3.0L Full Roller Rockers

no. only need to get higher octane is pinging (which is only a bandaid) or if you supercharge and are retuned for it. you can do a different mod that will help a little. ford thought it would be cool to run coolent through the intake on the 98s, 99s, and i think the 00s, to the ranger guys bypassed it to cool off the intake some. it is called the hot water bypass mod. a place for you to check out for more specific ranger stuff is http://www.rangerpowersports.com/forum/ the guy that put together the roller rockers kits at the site you mentioned is a mod at the forums i posted

Thanks e powers. I realize that if I have pinging I have to use higher octane and I realize there are other issues if it is pinging. I am not having that problem now.

What I am asking is: If I install the rocker mod, would I have to go to a higher octane. I'm not clear as to what the mod does to increase the performance.

As for the hot water mod. Don't waste your time. You won't gain anything. I tried is and it didn't do anything. The hot water is there for a reason, which I believe is to "cool" the egr exhaust gases (which is a lot hotter than the coolant) which are ported back into the intake for reburn. The best bang for me was the underdrive pulley.

Re: 1.7:1 3.0L Full Roller Rockers

nope no upgrade for octane with roller rockers.

it will increase the time the valves are open thus give you more air.thus a slight increase in hp and fuel economy. it reportedly quiets the engine down. it also is reportedly reduces friction.
most if not all info on them is done by fred (boss 3.0) the 3.0 guru found here http://www.rangerpowersports.com/for...d.php?t=180814
