98 7.4 timing and then some

someone please help!!

I have little to no advance timing. does anyone know what the timing should be at an idle? at idle I have 25 deg, I think it's high. total advance only goes to 31 tops and takes forever to come in.

with key on engine of, live data shows .7% load and .325 on MAF I've changed MAF and no change. Engine running rich bank 1 and 2. new o2s all 4. new plugs wires cap rotor. no leaks, exhaust or vacume. someone please help. Am I correct in that the ecm is what controls advance?? I think the prob lies there, if you romp on it from idle timing drops to as low as 2 deg and goes back to 25 deg. if you lay into it and hold the most advance is 31 deg.
sorry about the babble but i'm fed up.. Thanks

Does your scanner show what the cam retard is? Have you checked fuel pressure, key on, engine off? Does the fuel pressure hold after the fuel pump quits or does it drop fast?

no the scan tool only shows advance timing. as for the fuel, all checks out good, no leaking injectors and pressure is good.

The PCM does control advance. The most advance you will see is during light load cruise, 50 or so mph with very little pressure on the throttle
