Antenna thing behind my rear view mirror

Hey guys, this could be a very nooby question but i've always wondered this...

does anyone know what this is behind my riew view mirror?

maybe a sensor for glass breaking for an alarm, my friend has something like that on his back windshield, he said thats what his was for

I've never see that before either. Did it pull out of the mirror, or is it always sticking out.

I guess I can't say I don't have one, since it took me about a month to find the secret compartment in the center console.

It is always out, and it came with my car when I bought it...I do have a really nice Viper alarm installed, perhaps you could be right about the sensor for the glass???
