Re: 91 3.4 Lumina What Spark Plugs To Choose

My preference, and what I actually use is the AC platinum on my 3.4, or all my other vehicles for that matter. Good, long lasting plug. Car runs really good on them. Stay away from bosh anything, have been shown to provide some problems with certain GM engines, the 3.4 is no exception.

Iridum is a strong, highly resistant to wear material, so it lasts longer because it can keep the proper gap longer. It, in my opinion, is very good, but I would'nt pay the extra price for them. Platinium is my choice, lasts extremely long too, and is a little cheaper.

Champion products are good too, I have used them all, never had a problem.

NGK is alright, with the exception of the v-power. I have used them once in my camaro, and they were the worst I have ever seen, the car ran worse after I changed the plugs to them. I changed them out after about 100 kilometers or so.
Hope this helps, or gives you an idea.

Re: 91 3.4 Lumina What Spark Plugs To Choose

Since you have to remove the upper plenum to change the plugs, longevity is the premium here. I would go with either the AC-Delco platonum or iridium. Platinum and Iridium are denser metals than iron, and as Blazes stated earlier, hold their gap longer, which is their advantage. I have never had any luck with Bosch plugs or oxygen sensors. The gimmicky plugs with multiple ground electrodes are just that, gimmicks. Electricity will always seek the path of least resistance, so no matter how many ground electrodes there are, it will only jump one gap. Do you remember Splitfire plugs? Same concept, and they didn't last because there was no real-world advantage.

Re: 91 3.4 Lumina What Spark Plugs To Choose

oh ic ic, and i can remove plugs without removing plenum since ppl before me bent the tabs up and down on the engine firewall so u can remove plugs without taking it off

were the splitfires like the V plug?

so whats the gap for a 3.4 engine i guess these engines spark different from any other fuel injected car? i guess ill try AC Dec Plat cant hurt and damn i can take the plenum off in under 5 min cuz i that good damn practice lol
