Peugeot 307 WRC 1/24 Heller. From '04 Gronholm to '05 Märtin.

Hey there.
I bought the Peugeot 307 '04 kit long time ago.I am a big WRC phan.To be sharp then i am Markko Märtin phan.So i decided to rebuild this '04 Peugeot to '05 Peugeot.
Heres pictures from original:

(You can see that i have marked the places need rebuilding)

To make it look like a '05 Peugeot i had to rebuild the radiator hole in front and some small details.
Pictures from progress:

And the biggest problem of all are the decals.I only have the Gronholm decals. But luckily i found a very kind user called potsie ,who kindly promised to send me the Märtin decals.Thank you!

All comments and criticism are welcomed.
Eero

Hello Eero,

very nice try and start.
but pay attention I think you're doing some mistakes...

- In the front spoiler, all the "hole" has to be opened, it seems you put putty on its edges...
- Fenders have to be widered. the 2004 Peugeot was 1770 wide but the 2005 was 1800 ! it's not a big size difference reported top the model but with such heller big plastic thickness...

front lightpods aren't really well sized, but that's a conception problem...

I think that whereas you still didn't mention and figure it you've seen that rear wing is different ?

Heller roll cage is also false (better saying not complete I think, I cannot exactly swear what but I know something is not good with the roll cage)

Anyway, good luck and happy building with this kit.
this Heller kit would require hard work to be well converted and even improved but if you make it that will be a great car !

Nice start! I will follow your progress.

As Phil said before there is a couple of differences between the models.
The rear view mirrors aren't the same for example.

Good luck with the rebuild!

Kind regards
Magnus

In fact there is a small black panel that covers brakes air intakes, but this small panel is on front edge of the spoiler and hole is wider than yours.
If you putty back of the hole don't forget to open air intakes in the sides and not only letting deep of hole closed without covering the front of the hole.

But take a look at my brother's WIP (especially page 2 ---> close up of front spoiler) or finished model, it's better than explanations.

Seems like a courageous plan, but what keeps me puzzled is why one would try to convert a 2004 version into a 2005 one if the 2005 version is available as well?

Yea that keeps bothering my friends also.
Well i am a huge phan. But i am using my money to other Märtin's cars.So i decided that if i already have that model car then why not to build it.Like i sayd i bought this kit a long time ago.

And thank you rallymaster for useful help.I will make this hole a bit wider. And then try to build the intakes.

Cool, I didn't even know Heller made a 307. I'd rather spend half the money on this than pay for Tamiya's kit and give them negative reinforcement to make more like that.

I wonder if the decals and PE sets available for the Tamiya kit will fit this: I'd love to build the 2006 OMV Peugeot Norway cars, but don't feel like spending $75 to build each one.

Actually i have some Tamiya PE parts for 307.And they fit.
And that was my point also.It costs a little too much.i can buy almost 2 other cars for that money. And it was half cheaper than Tamiya one.

Re: Peugeot 307 WRC 1/24 Heller. From '04 Gronholm to '05 Märtin.

Hello Again.
Update!
I have built the side air takers:

And today i builted a new radiator, which was higher than old one.And i covered it with mesh.So when its painted then it looks really neat.I opened the hood wents. They will have a mesh also.Only with much smaller holes. And i builded new muffler tip and changed the position of muffler also. And i started to rebuild the rear wing. Its gonna be a long work.
Sorry for the bad pictures
Radiator:

Hood holes:

Muffler(you can see the old position holes on the picture)

Rear wing:

Comments and criticism is welcome.
Cheers!

Re: Peugeot 307 WRC 1/24 Heller. From '04 Gronholm to '05 Märtin.

wow, good job ! that's not an easy way you chose, but it's promissing !

For the side air intake in the front spoiler, you'll have to insert a small edge which comes a little out the air intake itself, due to the fact the 2005 car is larger than the 2004, then all parts follow the extension, spoilers too.

I have tons of reference pics for the 307, would you have some ?
I only need and email address and I can send a Win Rar file.

if you are interested please use this address: [email protected] (higher sending capacity then my principal email address)

To be honest i need pictures from it.Add me to your msn or something like that list.I sended my email to your PM.
And i am thinking about adding the width to the car.So I guess I just have to glue a strip of styrene to the wheelarches.

If I were you and if that doesn't sound impossible to you, i would better sand the existing wheel arch top edge before gluing a sheet of styren, that will allow you to rebuild more fine wheel arch edges.

when you'll get the pics I'm sending to you at the moment (uploading in my mailbox ) you'll see that the edge of wheel arch are a few different between 2004 and 2005.

I'm really impressed by the challenge you're leading here... (well done with rear wing !)

Hope to be usefull and help you making it.

Phil

What do you mean under sanding the top edge??
I was thinking like glue it on.And then use putty to make it smooth.
