I saw the other post in this forum about swapping the stock cavalier for the engine off a grand prix gtp and was wondering how difficult do you think would be to complete. It said its almost a direct swap is this true? has anyone tried it before and can shed some light. Thanx for any help provided.

Yea as far as I've found only one guy has ever done it to their cavy, (BTW he recently sold it), and the cost was outstandingly high.

I'm planning on throwing the gm blower on my 2.4. but i wanna port and polish the head and cam it up, lifter, and some lower engine work also. figure just with that i should be running low 13's. then theres intake/exhaust/fuel rail/injectors/nitrous smaller pulley........ yea my car will see 11's like i plan

Re: cavalier 3800 engine swap
search the forum again.... i know for a fact i have seen at least two threads on this exact topic. and if it is the thread u are referring to, someone posted a link to another j-body forum on which many, well 2 or 3 at least, have done the conversion and can easily be contacted. its not a direct bolt up, and will take an extreme amount of fabrication and time. ur better off getting an actual gtp and working on losing some of the weight.

Re: cavalier 3800 engine swap
the 3800 swap is good if you can do most of the work your self. like said before it's 90 degrees so it's a really tight fit width wise. But you have to remember, theres going to be all kinds of little problems with it latter down the road. I regret putting a 3800 in my j-body, you can't use it as an everday car either.
Remember it's still just a cavalier. |
