c reg granada bonnet help??

ok i just recently did some work on my ford granada gearbox and now overheating problems have come up but i cant get under the bonnet to take a look iv pulled the cable but nothing happens and reading my haynes manual is says it can be done with the aid of a large screwdriver but how do i do this or is there any other ways of opening the bonnet manually?

can anyone help me with this cos my cars sitting doing nothing untill i fix it and im not taking it into a garage to get repaired and come back with more problems than it went in with while paying a high price for it?
