General S-10 rear end question

Im looking for a Posi unit with 3.42 gears to replace my 2.56 limited slip.

I heard that the S-10's had posi and that gear size. Do they? are they any codes I can get to tell one from another?

Look at the RPO list in the glove box of the donor vehicle. You'll want to look for G80 (locking diff) and GU6 (3.42).

What wll I need out of the rear end to make mine a 3.42 posi? Its for my 87 caprice. its getting a engine buildup and i need posi with taller gears.

Ring and pinion, is the diff the same as a Caprice, make sure first,

Posi - limited slip...same thing
Best bet is to buy a new ring and pinion.
