Re: 97 Dodge Neon Tie Rod

See it was my moms old neon and now i fixed up so its all teenager rigged now lol. When my mom drove it it had a bad tie rod and the tires didnt wear down. My dad said he knows it needs one but he's not sure if its the inner tie rod or the outter tie rod. Sometimes the car will pull to one side but it hasnt lately. The tires are still like new on it the tread is good yet

Fix it. I have had one break. I was lucky I was driving in town and not driving fast. If I had of been on the highway it wouldnt have been pretty.

Re: 97 Dodge Neon Tie Rod

It is very easy to check. With the car on ground , grab the tire on both sides as hard as possible and shake. Have some one put their had on the tie rod ball and they should feel the loosness and you should hear it. Do get a front end alighn if you replace it or your wheels and steering will be way off. It'ts very simple and takes about 20 min. to change. Email me if you want to know hw.

Re: 97 Dodge Neon Tie Rod

You have to do that with the car jacked up and the tire off the ground.
