Pedro Lamy taking flight
During the Saturday morning practice session for the American Le Mans Series at Mid-Ohio, Aston Martin Racing pilot Pedro Lamy had a huge scare as his green DBR9 suffered brake problems heading into the esses. The Prodrive-built machine snapped sideways going over 150 mph and became airborne flying over 140 feet in length before coming to rest in the tire barriers. The #009 Aston Martin suffered relatively minor damage and was amazingly back on the track in the afternoon session just a few hours later after work put in by the mechanics to repair the car. The-Paddock.net viewer Jonathan Williamson was in the right place at the right time and was able to capture these amazing shots of the Aston’s “flight”. http://www.the-paddock.net/index.php...40137&Itemid=1 Pedro Lamy flew a longer distance than Orville Wright (December 17th, 1903 flight in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina: 120 feet) |
