'80 Cutlass, is this a good deal?

I have a chance to buy an '80 Cutlass Supreme 2dr.
The body is very solid (CA car originally) and it runs and drives good. It's not the original motor, it's been replaced with a 260 V8. The interior is pretty bad. Seats are worn and the door panels are faded and the headliner needs to be replaced. It's been repainted several years ago but still looks pretty good. The owner got the car from his son 10 years ago and has replaced many things over that time (brakes, exhaust, tires, etc) but due to an eye sight problem (has a handicap plate on it) has only put 5000 on the car since he's owned it.
He's asking $3000. for it but I'm thinking I can get it for $2500. I haven't dealt much with these year cars for many years so I'm not sure what the pricing is on them now.
Does this sound like a pretty fair deal?
Is there anything I should be looking for (problems) on a car like this?
Thanks for any help.
