Re: Worst Superbowl EVER.

Outside of Steelers fans (and even some of them will admit it), everyone believes the officiating in SBXL was the worst in Super Bowl history. A current ESPN sportsnation poll has the poor officiating as the #1 most memorable story from Super Bowl XL.

Here are some opinions by national columnists:

[KC Star]: Jason Whitlock "A group of middle-aged executives trying to keep pace with a group of highly trained 20-something athletes destroyed America's sports holiday."

[WashPost]: Michael Wilbon "Seattle should have been ahead by a couple of touchdowns, yet found themselves down 7-3 at halftime because the referees blew a call."

[FoxSports]: Kevin Hench "Every single questionable, marginal or outright bad call went against the Seahawks."

[Patsfan.com] Bob George "Capping off a postseason littered with bad officials calls all over the place, it seemed only fitting that referee Bill Leavy and his crew apply the coup de grace in the biggest game of them all. Three bogus calls were what basically did the Seahawks in."

[ESPN]: Skip Bayless "The first-quarter offensive pass interference called on Darrell Jackson that turned a touchdown into a field goal was robbery enough. But the fourth-quarter holding call on Sean Locklear made you wonder if the refs had even less of Aretha's r-e-s-p-E-c-t for your Seahawks than I do."

[ESPN]: Michael Smith "Here's what referee Bill Leavy's crew did, point blank: It robbed Seattle."

[Rochester Democrat]: Bob Matthews "The Steelers may or may not have been the better team. They certainly got the best of the officiating."
Here's a petition to review NFL officiating.
If there's nothing visibly done by the NFL about this issue, I am done with them.

Re: Worst Superbowl EVER.

Then I guess your going to be done with them cuz as is the case every year we hear how bad the officiating is and the game was rigged blah blah blah.
Officials make bad calls. Fans and veiwers make worse calls and columnist just write so the can make money off of anything that has contraversy.
Now point out one game where the officiating has been perfect in the eyes of everyone. You wont find such a game. Me personaly I blame it on the coaches for some of the bad play calling that they did and the poor execution the players made and thats the real reason i lost $100.

Re: Worst Superbowl EVER.

Where were Johnny Greer, Mike Carey and Ed Hochuli? The three best referees in the NFL (my opinion, but I watch an unbelievable number of games). Hope there's nothing racial going on--Greer and Carey are both African Americans.

Re: Worst Superbowl EVER.

Superbowl was boring. Neither team brought much of anything to the table when they got to the big game.

That picture up there is a great shot. Im amazed they didnt review it at all.

Re: Worst Superbowl EVER.

Now on the bright side at least a few superbowl records were made during the game.
Big Ben youngest QB to win a superbowl
Willie Parker langest TD run in a superbowl 76yds(i think)
Forgot the player but he had a int return for a td 76yds which was also the longest in a superbowl.
the yardage might be wrong but they are still records
And for 40yrs and running we still think the games are rigged

Am I the only one that thought it was bullshit that Hines Ward got the MVP?

Possibly. I'm curious to see who you think deserved it though. I mean Haynes had two HUGE plays in the game and he's a damn good player, that's no mystery. Alexander just had a shitty game, they should have trusted him with the ball more. I guess no other playes really stood out to me. Jackson MAYBE but Ward still has the edge over Jackson.
