i'm sure he meant after 2003, since the 2000 GT premium package is almost a GTS, the premium package would have it being standard.

ABS was def. not standard since mine does not have it.

it sux sometimes, othertimes its nice to have that bit of no control locking up

Re: 2002 GT 5-speed clutch slipping?

Not sure I know my 01 GT has ABS on it. The stupid light for the ABS always comes on after I run it through the carwash

Re: 2002 GT 5-speed clutch slipping?

i seem to have been a little wrong. MSN Autos shos that all '00 and '01 have ABS optional, it was not available on any models in '02, and standard only on the '03-'05 GTS.

so not all '00 and '01 are going to have ABS.

Re: 2002 GT 5-speed clutch slipping?

It depends where you live. If you live in Cali or Florida where it never gets snow then It's a waste. But if you have snow and ice it is a godsend. ABS saves my ass so many times in snow. And, ABS only kicks in when you have overstressed your tires limits. So, if you know exactly the breakaway point of your tires, you should be able to brake just as hard as someone without ABS and not set them off. They are a little touchy in this car though, and they take a while to reset to normal after you set them off.

BTW (sry for duble post)
You can actually brake harder without ABS not the other way around. Yah you push the pedal harder but the ABS controler controls the brakes after the pedal not you. Without the ABS system braking is entierly pedal control, thus you can brake harder if you know how. Locking tires can be a good thing.
I dont know about the rest of you but i can fell the diferance between a car with and without ABS.
Basicly the ABS wont let the brakes work to there full potential.

Re: 2002 GT 5-speed clutch slipping?

ABS does work within the traction limits of a car though, and since many (mainly women) don't kno where the breaking lockup threshold is, its nice to keep them from sliding down the street. and for us that have figured out where it locks up, and can keep a cool head when panic braking, its easier just to use no ABS brakes.

and you DRIFT an ECLIPSE!? WTF?!

Re: 2002 GT 5-speed clutch slipping?

Ass dragging is the most recockulous thing ever. Anyone who admits they frequently ass drag is a moron. If someone says burnouts are a waste of rubber, ass dragging is worse becuase then your car rides like a speed bump.
