Help 1985 toyota 4x4 pickup electrical prob!
i have a 1985 yota 22r carb'd. i drove to work and stoped it then after work i tried to start and the only light that came on was the charge light. usually all the dummy lights come on pre starting the truck. tried to jump it... didnt work. when i turn the key nothing happens not even a clicking. i then push started it and the truck ran but still none of the lights worked (taillights, brake lights, fuel gauge, heater, stereo, dash lights) only thing that worked was the headlights. when i stoped it at my house it did that same thing. i was told it was possibly a relay or a master fuse. i replace the m3 relay and that did no help. any help would be great. thanks Zack.
update, i just replaced the "head" relay and that didnt do it. could it be the "cmh, heater, fuel" relay? Last edited by dukhunter925; 01-09-2006 at 01:10 PM. |

There are a number of fuses and fuseable links in the fuse box under the hood you can check.
Is your charging system working properly ? You may want to have the alternator and battery tested.

Re: Help 1985 toyota 4x4 pickup electrical prob!
The first thing to do when something of that nature happens is disconnect the battery clean the terminals and make sure that everything is tight. If you have the aftermarket terminals that clamp the cable you need to take that apart and clean it too. Those are legendary for coroding.

Is power coming out of fuse? Get a wiring diagram for your vehicle. It will show what the fusible links are connected to and what color wires to look for. Use it to mark off what you have tested.
I had a similar problem on a Celica. It turned out to be a burned plug on the back of the fuse panel under the hood. |
