VSS Problem!

Hi, i just got a 1990 Cutlass supreme 2Door with a 3.1 from my girlfriends cousin well when i got it he told me the speedometer didnt work Well i figured it was the Sending unit on the tranny and when i got it the flywheel was broke so i took the tranny out changed the flywheel and pulled a sending unit off of an old trans out of my old cutlass (which worked perfect) on that car so i put the trans back in and hooked everything up took it for a ride and still dont work Well i hooked my computer scanner up and it says VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) short circuit now i am wondering... Why? if anybody has any clue why this may be happening please let me know, I really hate not knowing how fast i am going :P

Re: VSS Problem!

Short circuit means that the wires from the vss to the pcm are shorted/pinched to each other or ground somewhere.

I have a3.4 liter 5 speed with idle jumping out of control one of the things the computer brings up is the VSS now I am told that my car does not have a vss it is a 92 cultless spreme sl. The IAC motor also came up I changed it and got nothing.

You want to know what I get a kick out of is that I bought this car about 10 months ago, it always ran funny cold. I asked pep boys 3 weeks ago about the plentum gasket, I had three stores tell me that car did not have one. So the guy working on my car put a water gasket on it.lol When I found NAPA carried it the guy working on the car put it on and now it runs 10 times worse. I need somebody that know what there doing to work on this car. I can not seem to find anybody. So now I have another car and I am waiting to find the right person to work on this. lol aint that some krap had to buy a new car when the cutlass problem I don't think is that great.
