97 Lumina 3.1 (which engine heater to use?)

Hi,

I have a 1997 Lumina 3.1. I live in Wisconsin and would like to put an engine heater in my car and would like some opinions. It will cost about $100 to have a garage install a freeze plug type heater. I've had these before and wasn't sure it worked the best on my other cars. Just wondering if anyone has installed either a lower radiator hose heater or the type that you stick on to the bottom of your oil pan that heats. I looked in the book at my local Farm/Fleet auto type store and it didn't list (N/A) a lower radiator hose for my year/model and wondered if anyone else on here has installed any heaters for their Lumina with the 3.1 engine and could tell me which brand/type did you installed and how well it worked for you.

Thanks in advance

Freeze plug type, works real well here in the Adirondacks.

Freeze plug heaters are the best. Oil pan heaters are kinda out of the question since the oilpan's aluminum, and you want warm coolant when is freezing outside....Warm oil does nothing to help with a warm heater in the morning..

Freeze plug type heats better with less electricity. Electricity cost is getting pretty important now...

END trade with Communist China.
