New system for my new car

Well I got a "new" car (well new to me), its a 2000 Alero. Well anyways everything i have in there is stock except the woofers and amp i took from my last car. I am hopefully going to be getting new speakers and a HU for it. Well since christmas is coming up i figured i could get this all out in one hit. Well right now I have 2 12" Kicker Comp and an amp that came with it from the local car audio store. So I know i need a new head unit and speakers. It has 2 front tweeters, 4x6's, 6x9's. I have been looking at best buy and i know they don't always have the best stuff. I was thinking about getting an amp to power the tweeters and the 6x9's but since they have such RMS differences it will be hard. If you guys could help me that would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to spend a crap load of money on this since i am college and have a few prior money commitments.

Thank You

If i were in your shoes, i would just go for the head unit for christmas. I'm sure you'll be happy powering the speakers with that til you can save some money for an amp/speaker/tweeter project later. With that said, how much you lookin' to spend?

i am hoping somewhere between 300 and 500. HOPEFULLY more towards the 300 side but if not I am ok with that. I just want something that has the best options on it so i can have my system sound to its maximum potential.

Re: New system for my new car

go for high-end Kenwood, Panasonic, Pioneer, Clarion, or Alpine head units. The latter two are highly recomended here on AF, but i got a Kenwood KDC-7028, and i'm very happy with it.
If you want speakers, too, go for Phoenix Gold. They're really quality for the money, but if you're willing to pay more, there are brands these guys will tell ya to get. so second-hand recomendation: CDT audio components.
also, i'm sure you could find a nice 4-channel amp to power your speakers. Just remember to re-wire the big 3 if you have two amps.

Agreed with above. I bet you would like this Panasonic one.
