1998 Lumina code
What transmission does a 1998 Lumina LTZ with a 3.1l engine have? Is it the 4t60 or 4t65e? Also does a transmission code show up as SES light and can a OBD2 scanner pull the code? Thanks Deane

I think its the 4t65e, but not sure. And yes, a tranny code will kick the ses light on.

Re: Re: 1998 Lumina code
The best way to tell since there were production changes on Vin "M" 3.1L is to look on the SPID label which lists the GM RPO codes for your vehicle. It's located under the trunk lid or back of spare tire cover.
If you see M13 on one of the lines of data it is the 4T60E. If it says M15 it is the 4T65E.

Re: 1998 Lumina code
Most regular scanners will not show a trans code unless the CEL is on.
