Lets try some common performance GM V8s...

Gen I type V8s (these types of motors date back to the dawn of V8s so I won't list them all but the last two good ones)
L69 5.7L H.O. - 3rd Gen Camaro Z28 (Firebird Trans Am)
TPI 5.0/5.7L - 3rd Gen Camaro Z28 (Firebird Trans Am)/C4 Corvette

Gen II type V8s
LT1 5.7L - 4th Gen Camaro Z28 (Firebird Trans Am) 1993-1997/C4 Corvette 1992-1996
LT5 5.7L - C4 Corvette 1990-1995
LT4 5.7L - C4 Corvette Grand Sport 1996 only/ 4th Gen Camaro Z28/SS (Firebird Trans Am/WS6) 1997 only limited numbers

Gen III type V8s
LS1 5.7L - C5 Corvette 1997-2004/ 4th Gen Camaro Z28/SS (Firebird Trans Am/WS6) 1998-2002/ Pontiac GTO 2004 only
LS6 5.7L - C5 Corvette Z06 2001-2004

Zak
True. Im having trouble finding out what the vvt function on the s14/s15 sr20det's does. I know however that it is not the same as nissans sr20ve with vvl. Youll have to search for yourself if you want a better explanation. VVL is different from the vvt though.

The 2006 C6 Z06 with the LS7 is rated at 505hp which should dyno out at about 450whp stock. The LS6 motor makes 405hp, C5 Z06s dyno in the 360-370whp range.

Cool stuff.
