1991 s-10 wont start kinda runs backfires

2.5l engine. Good fuel pressure. good spark. New fuel pump , new pick up coil. Timing marks are dead on as is the rotor when at TDC. When tryin to start it binds like its out of time. It will start but not run well at at times. Very hard to get to run at all. It kicks like the timing is of or its firing at the wrong time. I am stumped on this one. I went as far as to put plugs on the wires and lay them on the vavle cover and watch the spark timeing on the plugs which seems ok. Something is very strange here. Anyone that can help please do.

The 2.5l in my jeep (same motor) did the same thing yours is doing after I did my tune up. I put the spark plug wire on wrong. The firing order is 1,2,4,3. I can get a pic of my wires if you want.
