Angry 99 Malibu won't start, no cluster lights

Funny thing happened today. Wife went shopping, stopped to get gas and the car would not start. When I went to see what the problem was, it was different from previous starting issues (Theftlock).

Notice there were no gauge/cluster lights but windows, radio etc all worked. Car would crank but would not start. Not sure if this is related to a fuel pump problem or electrical. Any ideas?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks, T

At first sorry for my English.

Yesterday We had a same problem, same situation.

My wife went shoping and when she wanted to go back to the home, car (malibu 99) would not start. She tried about 15 times and nothing.
No theftlock light and no light at all.

When I came at the place she tried once,- same think, but second time it worked. So we get in and drowe back at home.

At home, I tried more times and almost all time it worked. However
I remarked something strange. Two time, engine started but there was
no lights, any light. Even the speedmeter, temperature etc. were on zero.
I drowe it a little and the speedmeter didn't move.

This morning all worked Ok as usually.

Anybody has some ideas, what it would be the problem.

This is just a guess, but it sounds like a bad Ignition switch assembly to me.
