Re: Knock, knock

Can you give us some more info, like if it's while idling, or just while driving.

Any little bit will help us understand where the problem is coming from.

I should have those photo's for you tomorrow.

THANX, BUT I BELIVE IT SHOULD BE BOTH CAUSE WHEN I TAKE OFF AT FIRST IT TENDS GET LOUDER AND I TOLD MY DAD TO CHECK IT OUT ALL HE WAS TURN HIS HEAD OR HE DOESNT HAVE THE TIME .I THOUGHT IT WAS COMING FROM EXUAST I THINK BUT WHEN I GOTT UNDER IT AND I TOLD MY LIL CUSIN TO STEP ON THE GAS AND I COULD HEAR IT RIGHT AROUND THERE. ANOTHER THING IS THAT I THINK IT WAS BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION FILTER AND THE OIL FILTER.

Re: Knock, knock

I'll take a good look under my truck tomorrow, and see if I can find anything that might make a noise like that.

Your on the right track though looking at stuff like the exhaust. That's usually the first place to look and it gives me a good idea what sort of sound it's making.

Re: Knock, knock

Not sure if it is the same, but on my 94 s-10 the fan rubs on the plastic shield on the bottom side. It sounds like a knock, but it is actually the fan rubbing.

say i believe the noise is coming out from the motor . because i used a stheoscope and that where the noise was coming from i don't think it was from the fan could it be a piston. oh this a 4 cylinder

I had the same problem with a 91 4wd pickup I had. Knock ping sound. It turned out to be that the flexplate for the torque converter had cracked between the bolts that mount it to the crank of the motor. The flexplate would flex enough to hit the cover on the bottom front of the trans.

Take the cover off and look for grind marks.

Re: Knock, knock

Flywheel could be hitting the starter.
