1937 Ford
![]() After a long, two day Jr. Rodeo with my daughter, I needed to sit and draw. Did a 1937 Ford from a picture I took at a local car show at the Silverado... I tried several different things; blends and overlaps for the grill, reflections, etc... generally trying to be more realistic. Lots of hours, but happy with it. LMK what you think and what I could do differently. Gonna be gone for a bit... got a few trips to do and a riding camp in San Diego for my daughter. Re: 1937 Ford
Thanks for the comments.
The grill was done by. divided the grill into four quadrants. Then I creatied a copy layer under the grill frame, then drew a top horizontal single line, then a mid point line staying withing the grill shape.. selecting both, then going to Object>Blend Options>selecting the number of grill bars I want between upper and lower; then going back to Object>Blend>make. This was done for all four quadrants. I then copied another grill frame outline beneath the blended grill work for a dark gradient. Once done, you have to tweak some horizontal grill lines to keep them withing the outline... choose the color and stroke thickness, etc. It's actually not as difficult as this may sound, once you're doing it. I hope this helped. Robo |

Re: 1937 Ford
very nice Robo!
Did you use the grill shape as a mask over your blended quadrants? The headlights look great and the soft look interior is sweet. You might try adding another color on your highlight side just on the edges like a soft yellow, and then something real deep in the shadows just toward the deep edge just for pop. Great piece! |

Re: 1937 Ford
Hey Lemorris... thanks. No, I really am lost re: masks.. but I did create compound path of the chrome frame to cover up the blended layers of the grill. Ill try the softer yellows on the edges of the highlights and a very deep shade of color on the extreme egdes... do you mean like the tips of flames? Loved your VW and film clips... plus Tedder's rendering... WOW! That's something to keep. Thanks, Robo
