swaping a jeep engine
I have an 89 jeep Comanche good 4 cylinder engine(rear end totaled) I have a 84 jeep Cherokee pioneer, bad 4 cylinder engine, good body. I am pretty sure the swap between the two will be easy I am just looking for some advice and tips or maybe some literature to read up on what I am doing. If someone could point me in the write direction I am a NOVICE

Pull the two engines and set them side by side anything that looks deferent I would change then. The 84 is a TBI system right. Were as the 89 is port injected. So the easiest thing would be to migrate the old induction system to the new engine. Or am I way off on the fuel delivery system. What about the ignition systems are they compatible between the two engines. Some of the sensor may need changing.
KEEP everthing untill you sure you got it all right. LUCK |

Re: swaping a jeep engine
I would keep the engine out of the '89 and just pull the wiring haress and computer and trash the other out of '84 and you'll be in like flint and if you need tech help go down to local auto parts store and pick your self up a Chiltons and haynes manual and be prepared to purchase tools and maybe some misc. part that may be damaged during the swap. good luck to ya! or you can always come back and ask again!
