I need a walkthrough on removing/replacing 93 3.8

Yeah Im new to this forum, and was wondering if anyone had any good walkthroughs on a engine swap on a 93 bird 3.8.. I have a mechanic to do the swap for a really nice price ($250) but i want to read through a walkthrough and if it seems easy enough i will tackle the project myself... I bought the car for $1200 everything seemed fine, the motor had a small short knock as soon as it hit 2k RPM then it would shift and be fine, the tranny feels strong, I redlined the bird in a 30MPH and punch race down a 5 mile stretch, i reached the stop sign at the end of the stretch and at idle the oil pressure dropped to nothing, but soon as i took off it went right to normal, and was fine for about a month after that, the knock then begin to appear at start up, then the knock was their all the time, so now finally its trashed and been taking up space in the yard for about 3 months, I just purchased a new 3.8 long block to drop back in it, I was thinking i could do the swap, color code all the connectors and vaccum lines and I think i would be set... any help sure would be apprechiated, if not then ill pay the 250... ohh just a little curious here, the long block was $1,594 before tax and $149 for unrescrictied lifetime warranty.. is that too high?
thank you for taking your time to read this post and any help is apprechiated..

The price isn't bad for a long block. Where did you get it from? The only way I know to tell you how to do it is to just do it.

The hood is from legendary hoods. What kind of body kit are you looking for?

I think your price on the install ($250) is a no-brainer!... I wouldn't get my little fingers oily with a price like that... Geeesh... it's gotta be at least a 10-hour job... and he does it RIGHT, too?... that's such a deal I'd keep an eye on that mechanic...

Yeah he works at a shop here in town, and builds motors and installs them for all the gear heads around here, he knows his stuff thats for sure... hell he told me if the motor is ready to drop and he dont have to put the intake and stuff on it then the price will go lower, especially for me, yeah another place around here said it called for 18 hrs of labor and quoted it for $660 just for labor... I was looking for a body kit like on a SC or similair.

Thanks for all the help ya'll

$660 sounds like the normal labor rate at least at the shop were I work! Its a Ford Dealer so it is a higher price, but you know its down right.

Re: I need a walkthrough on removing/replacing 93 3.8

I paid $450 for the swap of my 4.6L. I know I could've done it but I also know that I really didnt have that much patience for all of that. I lost my engine in pretty much the same fashion. I paid just about $1,000 for a used engine out of a movie studio prop cop car with about 30,000 miles on it and the install. I think I got a pretty good deal on it.

I say pay the man.
