I have an 86 blazer S10, 4X4, standard. This past weekend I replaced the motor with a 2.8 from another 86 blazer, 4x4 S10 AUTOMATIC. I swapped the fly wheel from the old motor to the new. Now I have a very bad vibration from the motor. I changed the harmonic balancer but it made no difference. 1 guy tells me that I have to have an externally balanced flywheel from an 87-89 2.8. I have tried everything else but i really dont want to drop this transfer case and tranny again if I dont have to. (miserable job on the S10). Does this sound true to anyone? I dont understand why the blocks would be different. Im using the same flywheel from the original motor and they are both the same year. Everyone i talk to says something different!!!! Is there anyone who ACTUALLY knows the answer to which flywheel i need?
This is really driving me nuts!!! Thanks Rich |

Re: 2.8 vibration/flywheel question!!!!
fjeff01,
Thanks for the reply, can you please be more specific as to what year flywheel i need to install. Right now it is an 86 motor (originally on an automatic), with the original 86 standard shift flywheel. Thanks rich |
