Unhappy 98 oil guage problem again!

God, somebody please help me with this.
I have a 98 explorer sport 2wd, and my oil guage seems to really like twitch especially when it's raining or snowing. When the weather is clear, nothing happens. The 'check guage' light doesn't come on though.
I took it to the dealership when the problem would be when I would drive the car after starting it, and they said they'd just replace the guage needle.

is this something i should be worried about?

Re: 98 oil guage problem again!

is it an electric "idiot light" or a mechanical sending unit? If electrical manybe there is some corosion on the wire to the sender. Does it act wacky when you get a car wash? Sound like a moisture problem to me. I am a newbie though..and just trying to help..
good luck

No, it's fine when I get my car washed. It does that too (twitching) when I go over 65 mph.
My dad said it could be the oil pump.

My 2002's oil guage pops up and down with the damn idiot light on. I guess its the cold here or maybe clogged sender. I just bought a mechanical oil pressure guage. This should be much more reliable that the dummy crap ford put in. I have to wait usually 10 minutes then it stops...

Good luck.
