Question

Hi i'm new to the board. I have a 95 GT and after about 10 to 15 minutes the check engine light comes on and doesn't go off. All the gauges r right where there supposed to be but it doesn't idle right. can anybody tell me what might be wrong?

How does it idle when it is messing up?

It idles between 500rpm to dying, but sometimes it idles up to about750

check the idler screw, my friend had a 95 pgt that the idler screw back out somewhat and it would idle really low, just put some thread lock on it and turn it in alittle taht should fix it

also check for any cracks in the plastic peice that goes from the air box to the throttle body. Any small cracks mess up the idle and RPM. Engine is getting more air then what the MAFS is telling it.

what you want to do is get the check engine light read so you "know" whats wrong with the car. Our cars can be bitchie but often it's something simple. Grab a code scanner (local auto parts) and read it!

A majority of the time it is the fuel filter that will cause this problem take it out and check it if you dont know how all you have to do is and this mite sound stupid but blow through one end. If it doesnt come out the other end how is gas supposed to go through it? also if your afraid to do that for some reason it will fill heavy if it is clogged there supposed to be very light normaly.
