Re: Theres alot of play in my steering.

Hi and welcome MT - The fun has just begun!!

The play could be in the steering box, at any of the steering linkage joints, ball joints or wheel bearings.

I recommend a "dry park" check to locate play in the steering linkage.

With the engine off and wheels straight ahead, have a helper turn the steering wheel back and forth firmly thorugh the free play. While they are doing this you are checking each of the pivot joints in the linkage with your hand to feel for internal movement in the tierod end or part. Any movement at any of the locations is reason to replace that part.

The steering box will have an internal adjustment too but that would be the last check and adjustment done after the ball joints and wheel bearings are checked.

It could also be wear in the sector shaft bushing where the pitman arm attaches between the box and the rest of the linkage.

What kind of condition are the suspension bushings in?? That can contribut to a wandering condition too especially if you hit some uneven road surface.

Re: Theres alot of play in my steering.

Hi again.

As I said - the fun has just begun.

The first place I would look is at the blower motor to see if it is free turning or not.

Next check the blower motor resistor. That is what gives you the speed changes. One of the circuits might have burnt and shorted to the housing.

just a place to start - hope they turn out to be easy for you.
