1991 Jeep Cherokee Fueling Problem!

Hello everyone! I'm knew here apparently. Anyway..

My problem...
I was driving and my car suddenly stalled while driving. I thought it was the fuel pump because when I turned the key, I didn't here the pump come on. So I dropped the fuel tank and removed the fuel pump. I Met a guy at the auto part store he told me that it WASN'T the pump so I checked the pump and it came on. So I purchased a filter instead, installed the new filter and the jeep started and I went home.

Well, this morning I was off to the laundry mat and the vehicle stalled again. But this time it started up again but continued to stall. I turned the key on to listen for the fuel pump. What I noticed was that the pump was on, but with the vehicle NOT running, the pump continued to pump like every two to three seconds. Sometimes 2 times a second. I did all the work myself and it was the first time I ever worked on anything other than GM. Can anyone help me?
