Actually I meant iron...that's why I wrote...iron.... An iron V12 will be fucking heavy, it has to be 3-4 times heavier then the KA, it'll totally fuck up your weight distribution. Unless you fill your trunk with bricks...

dude how could it possibly weigh 3-4 times as much? its not 3-4 times as much metal LOL people don't realize this, since a block is bigger its not nessecarily THAT much heavier, the block you begin with in the comparison has the same type of construction and design. Its not like your adding 3-4 times the size, its just adding a little bit more weight then what you already have. It would probably weigh 100-200 pounds more. With the accessories it might be more like 200-300more pounds overall, since high end BMW parts on the flagship are a lot bigger and more powerful then nissan parts.(altenator, Compressor, POwersteering, WaterPump)

Ok, I'll humor you, let's say it's 300lbs extra, that's still some extra weight on the front without some kind of balance reajusment.

Re: SR20DET w/ T78 turbo kit

True, but you have to take in consideration that, that engine is built to haul 5000lbs, not 2700lbs, and since it is a 240, out go that pumkin looking alternator, and the massive steering pump, in goes less power robing counter parts. The V12 is not that much heavire, probably weighs 200lbs heavire than the KA, but the power output, hey comon guys, it's limitless. I say if anyone gets the chance before me, do it, hell, I'll take a road trip just to come and help tighten some bolts. if you find me applying vaselin to the tailpipe, that will be a good time to take a lunch brake.

I wasn't talking about the car not going as fast, I was talking about handling, front/rear weight ratio.

Re: SR20DET w/ T78 turbo kit

I'll let those who don't know in on a little secret, the reason the new Corvettes handle better than other cars, and way way better than it's older siblings is cuz the tranny is at the back, it is the motor then the clutch, driveshaft, then the tranny. and diff. This gives them some weight behind, and good weight distribution. I plan on experimenting with it, but like I said, all these are dreams and speculations, we will have to wait for the near future and see if I will pull it off, but first, I have to pull off the current project.

Re: SR20DET w/ T78 turbo kit

^Same idea is behind the RX-7 and the RX-8. They moved the engine toward the center of the car(scenes how it is so small) to give it a perfect 50/50 weight bias.

Re: SR20DET w/ T78 turbo kit

yeah but the tranny is at the front, one problem my former boss pointed out to me was, this car was given an I-4, my V6 is heavier, the tranny is heavier, and all this translates to more weight on the front, this will kill me on especially take of, and slightly on handling. I saw a Supra with 850hp to the wheels at a drag strip against a full racing civic. Go time, the civic nailed it and hauled ass, supra was burning rubber, civic reached the 1/2 mark while the Supra was way behind, but when he got traction he reached the other end so fast, he won and was given a standing inovation.
I can counteract this with good and very $$$$$ suspension systems, but they will have to wait till I get a sponsor. Now if I ever get enough cash, I would like the Vettes tranny, this will be weight well distributed, I don't want to fill my trunk with speakers or bricks, I wan't all weight purposful, and you definately want weight on the drive wheels. That's why for a long time Porche has had insane acceleration.
