Re: Complete newbie ?
600 Watt. Assuming your two 10' subs are 4 Ohm Single Voice Coil, you will need a 600W @ 2ohm amp. What kind of subs are they?

i am looking at either this one here or this one here
So which is better the one with 4ohms or 8ohms since they are the same price. Oh and by the way i put down the wrong watts on my previous post. One other thing: if it says that a sub needs .60 cubic feet and you are putting two subs in the same enclosure do you just double the needed space? |

those rockfords aren't that bad, but the ed's haibane suggested are better, don't put two subs in the same enclosure, give each sub its own .60 cubic feet

Why is having two subs in one box bad?

Re: Complete newbie ?
you can make 2 enclosures out of the same box..., but what he is saying is put a divider between the subs, don't use same airspace

I always use the same enclosure ... just too lazy to build a baffle I suppose. but either way, you SHOULD mount the subs physically close together - it causes them to couple their output and increase the efficiency a little

Re: Complete newbie ?
they're recommended for small enclosures because smaller volumes of air is easier to compress, that helps with distortion and control issues as far as jumping the magnetic field and keeps the output tight. As far as two separate chambers it's better because if one speaker pop then the enclosure volume ddoubles for the other speaker, and now your risking overdriving your speakers

ok that clarifies it. Now... wat woul be a good amp under 150 for those (either the 4ohms or 8ohms) Brand loyalty means nothing to me just as long as it is the best for my money and it is not a no-name company

Re: Complete newbie ?
if you want a dirt cheap amp brand new for under 150 bucks to push that RF 4ohm you can find a power acoustic LT620/2 or get something used off of Ebay

Re: Complete newbie ?
nine.2 ...
Navy... those subs are not even good in those small of enclosures... Its like audiobahn... you need winisd or some prog to make a real box for it since they are probably way too small boxes
