Porsche GT3 / Honda NR

Hello Everyone,

I have been following the forums for sometime now as a guest but finally I decided to write as well.

I am building two kits at the moment to learn about model car (motorcycle) building. One is the Tamiya GT3 which I think is an easy kit to build which enabled me to focus on painting (and pulling my hair). And the other one is the Honda NR. Here are couple pics I took. These are being built out of box so bare with me... I do not want to run before learning to walk

I painted the body of the NR with Boyd Red (which I think is wonderful. It shines before even buffing and sanding and leaves no orange peels)

The GT3 was painted with tamiya gloss yellow. It has lots of orange peel and while buffing I went all the way down to the primer (that includes gloss coat) So I am going to sand it alittle and use the Boyd Yellow and leave it alone for a week...

Enjoy,

Re: Porsche GT3 / Honda NR

Welcome on the bright side of AF!
From what the pics let us see, I completely agree with Guiddy...
Nice to see a gt3! I hope you won't paint the front and back turn lights clear orange!.... (as the real car has light smoked ones instead)

Thanks for the feed back guys...

I decided to samd down the paint on the gt3 alittle because I didnt liked the end result of the tamiya yellow . So I sprayed 2 coats of Boyd Dark yellow and let the GT3 to dry... Here is how the gt3 looks like now.

The interior is almost finished as well, but it is nothing fancy as I am trying to learn about painting the body... I ll post some pics of the interior as soon as I get my camera back...

Re: Porsche GT3 / Honda NR

Well I have successfully ruined the decals on my NR... and if I play with it anymore it will be ruined more, so I have closed it applied the rest of the decals and it is going in the shelf as a reminder of thing not to do..

There are some paint flaws as well but I am just going to ignore those an move on as I have 5 models to finish until may 23rd.

What I learned.....

- Manual is not always right.. even if it is made by Tamiya
- Paitience
- Carbon decals suck...
- use cotton gloves while handling models.
- Motorcycles are not built like Gundams

I ll post some pics as soon as I am done with it...

Re: Porsche GT3 / Honda NR

Nice job; I like the second color the porsche has. The first was too bright.

From where I am, I must admit it looks ok, too! And however, it's a NR!

... where are the rear view mirrors? I miss them a little...

If I remember well there's been a thread about ruined builds, or first kit... Try to find it, and you'll use less " " !!!!
