Re: fujimi kit....

I've made the FD and have the FC and Trueno
The FD was alright, but the decal were quite cartoon like.
FC was horrible, although it came with tons of extra parts, none were correct to make a correct copy of the one from the manga/anime.
86, it's alright, but don't expect too much. It's just a re-tooled kit from the 80's that used to be motorized. Same for the FC, btw.

As said, the AE86 is very simplified. The chassis is very plain, and lack detail. The interior on the other hand, is nicely detailed, with very nice door panels, seats and dash. Also includes an option w/o the rear seat, and comes with somewhat, a roll-cage. From the standard kit, the Intial D model includes extras such as: "Recaro" seats (same from ITR), racing steering wheel, intercooler, shiftstick w/ boot, muffler, a type of spoiler, and of course, decals. I forgot to mention the cardboard cut-outs of some characters.

You can check out a lot of built models of the Hachi at www.warachan.com. The lights don't look quite right (front side markers are too big). But overall shape of the car is acceptable. Definitely was meant as a motorized kit, and allowance made to transform it into a race car. Also, as with almost ALL the Fujimi kits from the '80s, the front seats are *severely* undersized. Also doesn't specify which part of the "panda" scheme should be flat/gloss/semi-gloss...

clem..

if you want to go smaller, Aoshima has the 86, FC, FD, and Sileighty in 1:32. Judging from the catalog, they don't come with interiors though.
