Unhappy 84 truck having trouble

I have a 1984 King Cab PU that is having issues. It starts fine, even in cold weather now that we have a 700AMP battery and a block heater in it. It even idles fine - seems to be running like a charm - until I actually drive it. Then it will go along for a couple hundred yards or so with no problem, then it starts to stutter and it seems like there is not enough fuel getting to the engine. I can put the pedal to the floor, and it acts like it is not getting fuel - then a burst, and it will go a bit, and then no power. It is getting very frustrating, and I would appreciate any insight. I am not willing to spend a lot of $ to get it fixed, though. Could it be as simple as a clogged fuel filter?

Banging my head. It is just too cold to walk to work these days!!! (-13F this morning!!!BRRR)
