I don't think it's people braking to hard (or at least not all of them). I also have a lot of brake dust on mine and I'm a pretty laid back driver, I don't ride the brakes or stop at the last second.

The first time I took mine in for warped rotors the guy accused me of riding the brakes because of the ammount of brake dust. I've since taken it in a second time for warped rotors and now its almost time for it again.

I guess I should just get the aftermarket Powerstop rotors and maybe I woln't have a problem with them warping as much.

How much you replace your brake pads depends on whether you have a manual or auto. I believe Schlud you have a manual and since manual drivers (good ones that is) tend to do more compression braking, they don't go through brakes like an auto does. My brakes seem to last on average about 28,000 miles. I know someone is going to scream and say "HOLY #$%&, YOU"RE HARD ON BRAKES!!!", but you have to keep in mind that I pull a 3,500 lb ski boat behind my X regularly. Even though the trailer has brakes, it is still a lot harder on brakes than not pulling it. Prior to the ski boat, I was getting between 30,000 and 35,000 miles on brakes. That beats my S10 Blazer which rarely made it more than 25,000 miles on the front brakes. The first set I put on at 21,000 miles.

My brakes are bone stock. Just have an extended SS braided line for the rear articulation. That's it.
