|
17" wheels need help with tire selection
I have bought 17x7 with 40 offset for my 99 taurus se, I am needing some help with tire size, I want the widest tire that will fit with no rubbing, anyone that can help, thank you!!!

For the 17's, you need either 215/50R17, or a 235/45R17. It's your choice.

if your stock tires were p205/65 r15 then you shouldgo with the 45 profile so you don't mess with the speedomider.you can put 225 on the car if you put a 1/4 inch spacer between the rotors and the rim.thats what i did with my 225/55/r16.

your car has an 1 inch differance at the rotor. because of your performance struts(factory performance).i got 4 new sensitrc gold before i changed my rims.spacers have to be there or my wheel wells would shred.wrong mod first 4 me eh, oh well .learning curve.supperchip just put in, with hight flow cat(put hockey stick through)cherrybomb duell exaust and other mods on other sites.I BEAT AN 98 SHO. i inched away, but i won. with a vulcan no way ha ha ha.to 100 k's anyway

You say high flow cat....... did you gut it your self???? Just want to know been thinking of doing that.

no'take off what you got. put the biggest bar you can find straight through till it comes out the other side. not legal, but your car is new enough not to get e tested. bang like that. hight flow cat and save a grand ha ha. dont tell anyone though lol

Got 'em on
I put 225/45/17's and whew, almost had to space them, I can not even get my finger between the tire and the rear shock, but they do not rub!!!

Man quit playing with that thing. I run 235/35/20 on my 1994 wagon. The gas mileage sucks but it's wicked.
