01 Mirage Problems/Questions

sis has a 2001 mirage. has anyone had a problem where the key will not come out of the ignition? I am just about 100% sure it is electrical, due to the fact that i used to jiggle it on and out of reverse and it would come out (it is stuck on ACC, and wont go to LOCK (off)). Could this be a problem with the ECU? i am trying to pinpoint this the best i can without taking it to a mitsu dealer. thanks.

yea ive hada lil bit of that too , i know what it is if its a automatic. the shifter isnt goin into park all the way, while i neutrel unscrew the 2 screws on the shifter and twist the knob down a couple times, install one screw and check it, do again if necessary, and you could unsrew the knob a lil if tightening it doesnt do the job, NOTICE: if you screw the knob down too much the shifter WILL NOT stay in drive itll drop down to 3,2, or 1, and could go into reverse if you push up on it without pressin the button that tells you youve went too far, go back a couple times. AND if you go too far unscrewin it it wont go into park at all. so itll need to be in the middle to do it all right, but dont worry you have plenty of thread to mess with, so it aint like a millimeter to try to find to get it just right. let me know if thats the problem or before all of that try pushin the shifter towards park a lil harder, that may work. thats what i do with my aftermarket shifter, im LAZY
