gtp problems?

Ok here is what i have a 1998 gtp with 88k km on it. First the traction control button doesnt work and i cannot get it to break the tires loose. it seems boggy when i first step on it then at like 30 it picks up and revs more. second the boost only goes almost to half way one bar short is this normal? shouldnt it go to full if i step on it hard? ok and the third the 0 to 60 time is almost well a little more then 10 seconds now i know this should be faster for a stock gtp any help please?????

When was the last full tune up done on it?

Do you have a check engine light on?

Re: gtp problems?

Don't know when the last tuneup was? I think I would tune it up. Also, have you checked your air filter?

Re: gtp problems?

10 second 0-60, old ladies in Aveo's would be beating you!!! You may have a bad boost control valve, clogged catalytic converter, or fuel pressure issue. It could also be tune-up time. Do you get the "check/service engine soon" light on when you turn the key to on but with the engine off? If not, the bulb may be removed or burned out. I'd take it to Advance/Auto Zone and have it scanned to be sure you have no codes stored.

Thats a good one Rich. I thought he said he lives in Mexico. I guess he could bring it to the US/Mexican border to an Autozone.

BTW - Pemex gas sux!

Re: gtp problems?

Wondering the same thing. No one cares about his retarded tercel that won't stay in gear.

I would say to change the fuel filter first off. (check the tips and maintenance subforum). Then maybe rent a guage and check fuel pressure.

And no, my 2000 GTP even with the stock pulley size would reach to the max boost on the guage.
