I know there has been some great information on this issue. My problem is I might have gone to far in troubleshooting it. My wipers stopped in the up position after not cleaning the snow off with a scraper but trying to use the wipers. Yes the tab was bent down under the wiper transmission. I was unable to straighten the tab without removing the wiper transmission and linkage. Is it possible to have the tab too high? After reinstalling the parts the wiper motor will cycle and stop at the up position ( the tab) and just stop there. I purchased a rebuilt motor with circuit board. I have lubed the gold transmission with lithium grease. What I am asking is the wiper transmission only supposed to contact the stop tab by the top of the rotating piece? Or is something else supposed to occur during the cycling of the transmission. I found some pictures of the tab bent down but only some illustrations of the tab bent back up. Not actual photos so I assumed that the transmission would stop and reverse at the tab. That is not happening however.
