1996 explorer trans problems

My roomate bought a pretty hammered eddie bauer explder minus the the front drive shaftand drove it about 2 months now is having tranny problems no 1st or reverse but will go in second would not having shaft on caused problems does it sound fixable or is he probably looking at replacing it thanks raider 4

sounds like a junker, i'd drive it till it dies. transmissions arent worth fixing on cars that are worth less than 4k in good shape if you ask me.
