5.7 Engine missing with no code light????

My 1999 suburban has a 5.7 engine with 225,000 miles. It has a miss in it now but there is no light on in the dash. Is that possible?

check for proper fuel pressures..then measure spark plug resistance..

with this mileage the distributor may need replacing..shaft bearings worn.....

Also too make sure the bulb is working for the check engine light. Does the light come on when you first turn the key on, if not that would explain why it's not coming on b/c the bulb is blown. If this is happening all the time I would crank it up, and then pull each plug wire one at a time to narrow it down to which cylinder it is. The one that you pull that doesn't make a difference in the way it sounds is where the problem is.
