Re: Automatice saturn wont shift right

Is it a DOHC or SOHC engine? DOHC are Sl2 SOHC are Sl1.

Replace your ECTS. Only some of 2001's came with the brass new style one. I suggest dealer however they upped the price to 19.50. AZ or AA has it for cheaper, but get teflon tape so that it doesnt leak fluid

replace this and drive around for a little bit. See if it helps.

Does it slam into gear? Slam into reverse?

Re: Automatice saturn wont shift right

my 01 sl2 w/ 134,000 did the same thing. First I changed the 4 motor and tranny mounts ( which were totally shot ) and that helped it some. Then I replaced the tranny valve body, which I purchased off of ebay rebuilt for about $200 delivered (a local shop wanted $900 to do this) the job is very easy to do and took about 45 min. My sl2 runs and shifts like a brand new car now and Im gettitng around 34 - 36 mpg. Well worth the repair cost!

Re: Automatice saturn wont shift right

Yupp. Reverse slam syndrom. Do wolmans cure and see if that helps. If not then a new valve body may be in order.

Wolfmans reverse slam remedy.
New in put shaft nut.
New valve body.

Those are the three steps to fixing the reverse slam syndrome. Depending on how bad it is, its sometimes cured with the remedy
