Completed: Jordan EJ10 1/20

Another build completed and my first resin kit. I am hoping beyond hope that the rest of my resin kits are 100% better than this, in my opinion the kit was extremely poor in terms of fit, detail, accuracy and most of all value for money. Maybe I have just been spoilt up to now as I have mostly built Tamiya/Hasegawa plastic kits but my over riding feeling is that when we pay so much money for a kit surely we can expect a few things to be good... the best part of this kit were the decals and the wheels after that very little else stood out and is a real challenge to make into anything respectable.

I will rant no more as I am a novice when it comes to resin kits, hopefully this will be the worst example I build otherwise I can see my entire collection of resin kits going on ebay.

As always thanks for following, I had to break off half way through due to a redesign of my modelling desk (which is now a room all to myself) so it has taken a little extra time than I thought it would.

First up my new 'room'...

from this...

to this...

and so onto the Jordan (although I think I like the look of my room compared to the finished car!)

There will be a lot more pics on my site when I get it updated. Next up (and call me a glutton for punishment) but I am going to try another resin kit to see if it is any better, it is going to be the Ace Models McLaren MP4/1C and it looks to be very straightforward (famous last words eh!)

all the best guys

Wow, I really like that piece of work.

After your introduction of the kit I was looking for flaws, but nothing found. Your effort sure paid off.

Robert

P.S.: Congratulations on your new base. Wish I had one of these. I hate cleaning up after a little modeling.

Impressive first resin kit. Looks great to me!
You managed to capture the looks of the real car very well. Beautiful!

Your modeling place also looks great, and amazingly tidy!

The model looks great, despite the problems.

The room looks good too, although it looks like it might need a little ventilation

Are you just being modest?? The model looks great. Without reading your WIP, the only flaw I can see it that the front wing looks a little low, otherwise it looks like an excellent build.

The workspace looks excellent too... are you a builder by trade?

Despite what you said, that's a great looking model. Maybe you should give yourself more credit. Your new little room is great too, that's exactly what I need.

Re: Completed: Jordan EJ10 1/20

thanks for all your comments guys, glad you like the room too asIm really pleased with it. It's small but has got everything I need in one place and is tidy which keeps the lady of the house happy!

As for the Jordan, you guys are absolutely right about the front wing, another inaccuracy in the kit as having checked the (rather basic) instructions I have fitted it right, its gonna have to go back on the desk for some modifications as it clearly isnt right.

As for the build looking better than I give it credit for, I think the photos are hiding a lot of the inaccuracies and short falls, for example the front suspension faults are covered by the front wheels and the attachment of these was so poor I had to use gallons of CA and as a result are set an will not turn.
The rear wing almost went into the bin too and I avoided taking a short of the rear as you can see how awful it is. On reflection it would have been easier to have binned it and built it from scratch I think.

Hey ho though and thanks again for yoru encouragements, Im off to sit in my little hole and start the McLaren!

That's a nice little cave you have built yourself. The Jordan isn't bad either.
