Cool Re: 700r4 tranny?

Ya bud, it WILL BOLT UP. All GM engines and trannies bolt together. As long as they are the same brand. Chevy to chevy, Buick to buick, Olds to olds..... You get the picture

Re: 700r4 tranny?

No.
The 2.8 buick/olds may be a different bolt pattern.
And a 2.8 transmissiobn will not hold a 350 engine.
If you are going a 350 engine get the transmission for it.
Good Luck

Re: 700r4 tranny?

no, the 2.8 is a 60 degree block, while the 4.3 and v-8s are a 90 degree block. you can swap trannies between the 4.3 and v-8s, but not with the 2.8.

I have built 700 transmission for 5 years, they will bolt up with out a problem. they are the same bell housing. the only thing you need to keep an eye on is an S-10 2wd and 4wd, they will have differant output shafts and gearing. The 700 will hold up to a 350, but you may want to consider an upgrade to springs and maybe a shift kit to boost the springs for harder shits and line psi.

As said 2.8 is a different bolt pattern.
The V6 trans clutch packs and converter are to light/short on clutches for any V8 engine.

Re: 700r4 tranny?

I have a 700R4 in my 4.3L, I had it rebuilt by a friend that rebuilds Trannys for a living. The V6 transmission has a lighter clutch pack and bands. I plow snow with mine and he was able to upgrade my 700R4 with parts from the v8 700R4. He told me that the V6 trans would never take the abuse of the V8 engine when I asked him the same question.

Re: 700r4 tranny?

MT is right. The 2.8 WILL NOT BOLT UP! I used a 700R4 from a full sized 4wd pickup with a 350.
