Can a K series engine be replaced with L67?
Hello, today my 1997 Oldsmobile Regency blew it's motor. It only had 93k miles and it makes me pretty angry. Anyway. My question is this: I found a 3.8I L67 Series II Supercharged Engine w/ a 4t65e-hd tranny online and I wanted to know if it was even possible to trade out the two? I currently have the 4t60e tranny, so I think it might be a stretch for the mechanic - but I thought I would ask you all for advice.
Thanks for your time. |

Re: Can a K series engine be replaced with L67?
Welcome to AF, in general it will fit, I believe one axle shaft is different as well as the pcm and harness. I am sure there are other issues, hold on as some other guys here may have more specific info.

Thanks Maxwedge for the fast response. I'm sure I'm going to pay out the "you know what" for the labor - but - should be interesting nonetheless...

Re: Can a K series engine be replaced with L67?
The insides iirc are just about the same. The tranny pan is the same fyi. For the swap one axle is different. I believe it is passenger side from what I remember reading before. PCM and harness will need to be replace with the same year as the engine and transmission. Maybe transmission mount may have to be made not entirely sure though
