86 GT Header problem

Hey all,
I just installed a set of MAC 1 5/8 ceramic unequal shorties on my otherwise original, 79,000-mile 1986 GT 5.0 AOD. Everything fit fine except this: The u-joint on the steering shaft rubs the rear header tube. The car sits sort-of low, so I installed offset steering rack bushings yesterday hoping the u-joint would move up and clear. But the problem remains. I plan to change the motor mounts next. They might be sagging. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dale
